Nuit e iour – an obsession of love

Sollazzo Ensemble (Switzerland)
Anna Danilevskaia (Russia) – vielle, artistic direction

Love was one of the main themes that interested composers and poets in 14th-century Italy; the earthly, sensual and full of knightly courtesy, as well as heavenly – in the relationship between the Bridegroom and the Bride. Three different faces of love, tragic, religious and fulfilled, in compositions of Matteo da Perugia, Paolo da Firenze, Giovanni da Cascia and Jacob de Senlèche, will be presented by the Solazzo ensemble. It’s an original triptych by Sollazzo – the winners of the emerging program promoting outstanding young interpreters of early music and pupils of the best European music universities: Scholi Cantorum Basiliensis, Catalan ESMUC and Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse in Lyon.
