His unmistakable taste for the arts, creative feel for Baroque aesthetics, flair as an explorer and appetite for group adventures naturally led him to open up the 17th- and 18th-century repertoires and create a tailor-made ensemble. With his orchestra, Le Poème Harmonique, Vincent Dumestre is today one of the most inventive and versatile artisans of the Baroque revival, conducting or directing orchestras, choirs, musical seasons, competitions and festivals, while continuing to play his first instruments – plucked strings.

Vincent Dumestre is invited to play in the world’s leading Baroque music venues, with Le Poème Harmonique, performing alongside, depending on the program, the Aedes, Accentus and Les Cris de Paris choirs, the musicAeterna, Musica Florea and Arte Suonatori ensembles, the Orchestre Régional of Normandy, Capella Cracoviensis and Orkiestra Historyczna. He is also active in Normandy, where he founded his ensemble.

Vincent Dumestre is a Knight of the French National Order of Arts and Letters and of the French National Order of Merit. Since then, from exhumations to reconstructions, from known composers to surprising programmes, he has unfailingly presented true creations, opening up the horizons of a complete range of vocal and instrumental music, and offered it a wide visibility, now a benchmark on the musical scene.
