Adèle Charvet (France) – mezzo-soprano
Le Poème Harmonique (France)
Vincent Dumestre (France) –theorbo, artistic direction
In the face of the pandemic, Le Poème Harmonique and Kromer Festival Biecz had to abandon their original, daring plans. However, in order not to leave the audience without the performance of such renowned artists, Vincent Dumestre proposed a stunning alternative – a programme that presents a spectrum of wonderful works that in the times of Henry IV and Louis XIV sounded in the chambers of the Louvre Palace heralding the arrival of Versailles’ splendour. We will hear fragments from ballets de cour, popular songs, and finally, arias from the first operas by Cavalli and Lully staged at the Parisian court. It is a testimony to the emerging power of French culture.
