Jorge Jiménez

Jorge is one of the busiest violinists of our day. He is renowned for his thorough and exciting approach, performing music in the style and on the instruments for which it was intended, from the medieval to the 21st century. Jorge is founder and director of the Spanish-based ensemble Tercia Realidad, and is regularly invited to lead and conduct ensembles and orchestras such as: The Hanover Band (UK), Forma Antiqva (ES), La Risonanza (IT) I Fagiolini (UK), Laudonia Ensemble, the spanish Orquesta del Principado de Asturias, the Belgian Philarmonic Orkest van de Vlaamse Opera and the Polish Capella Cracovensis, as well as appearances as guest director of the new Berlin-based opera company Kiez Oper and the Festival Bachowski Swidnica Academy Orchestra in Poland. Jorge has recorded for labels such as Atlantic Records, Naxos, Hyperion, DLR-Capriccio, Lindoro, La Ma de Guido and Prometeo.

As a soloist, Jorge has toured widely throughout Europe and South America, performing in Istanbul, Sevilla, Barcelona, London, Manchester, Berlin, Madrid, Paris, Varazdin and Cochabamba.

Jorge has appeared as Musical Director and soloist of “The Secret Theatre”, premiering music by Alexander Balanescu and of “Four Seasons” with music by Max Richter at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater.

In 2018, Jorge directed the world premiere of his creation EVENSONG: The British Vespers at the Misteria Paschalia festival in Krakow. In May, he appeared as one of the guest conductors of the project ‘Haydn Extreme’ of Capella Cracoviensis, in which the Polish orchestra will interpret all Haydn’s symphonies up to the composer’s anniversary in 2023.

In 2019 he released Soledad, his first solo violin album, rated as: “brilliant bravura“ “Strikingly unusual”
In 2020 Jorge will release the album INSOMNIA, performing the first ever transcription of Bach’s Goldberg Variations for Solo Violin, transcription described as “Visionary” by the critics of Ruch Muzyczny Magazine.

Jorge plays on a 1680 Ruggieri made in Cremona and a Dom Nicola Amati 1720 Bologna, kindly loaned by JumpstartJr Foundation / Sparey Collection.
